To enable us to log on to your PC via the Internet we need you to download and install VNC Software via the link below:
http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/4.1/download.html
When you have downloaded and installed it (works with Win2K/XP only) please leave all settings as the defaults except the PASSWORD option. If you let us know when you have downloaded the application we will e-mail you a password to use. This means that we will be the only ones with access to your machine.
In order to access your PC we will need to know its IP Address which can be found by going to Start-Run in Windows 2000/XP. Then type in cmd and hit return. When a black window opens up type in ipconfig /all (with a space before the /), hit return and make a note of the IP Address (which will look something like 89.123.104.99) and e-mail it to us. Alternatively you can “hover” your mouse over the VNC icon which should now be in your System Tray and your IP Address should briefly display. Do NOT disconnect from the Internet or your IP Address may change.
Please note that this method will only work if your PC is directly connected to the Internet and is NOT sitting behind a server, router or other network device. Dialup connections WILL work, but are very slow and your PC has to be dialed in to the Internet to enable access.
